Our Story
new visions is co-founded by Agnieszka Bułacik and Liene Jurgelāne.
Having both worked for many years in culture, arts, and education in our own contexts, we both met in 2014 as facilitators in the global education program GLEN.
This was the start of our collective journey and collaboration, as we connected deeply in our visions of a world of love and justice and joy, holistic facilitation approach, and struggles with navigating the arts and culture sector as women.
Over the coming years, we were co-designing and facilitating workshops, offering empowerment spaces for women, curating the learning program of festival Komēta, holding space for various conversations, talks and lectures. In short - working together as often as we could.
One warm evening in 2018 when sitting on Agnieszkas balcony, we decided to start our own organisation, with the ambitious idea to strive for positive systemic change in our communities and society at large on an everyday basis.
In 2019 with the support of the Echoing Green fellowship, we were able to fully commit to new visions as our core work and start working towards TAIGA - a leadership program for women working in arts and culture, rooted in a feminist, cross-generational, social justice approach and aimed at creating an international network of social innovators to fulfill the vision of a world where differences are embraced and cherished.
On our paths as educators, facilitators, and activists we have met and keep meeting wonderful humans that become part of community and family. Together we are newvisioning a more just, loving, and caring future.
