Liene Jurgelāne

I am a facilitator, artist and researcher. I have been weaving together the worlds of cultural events, performance art and learning spaces for almost 15 years.

I hold workshops and rituals, mentor individuals and collectives, curate events and artistic interventions that primarily invite to (re)connect with oneself, one another, and the more-than-human worlds and get inspired to live in more life-sustaining ways.

I have worked and work with artists, activists, cultural collectives and institutions across Europe. Formerly as part of the team running the independent cultural centre in Riga, Kanepes Culture Centre; working with Imagine 2020 project - a network of arts organisations across Europe focusing on raising awareness around climate change and the socio-ecological crisis; and co-organizing the annual music, arts, and education festival Kometa in Riga; and currently as a member of the creative platform Institut for (X), holding rituals and assisting in visioning processes.

Most of my life I lived in Latvia, now - in Aarhus, Denmark.

I love DJing, making things with my hands, gardening, foraging, making herbal tea mixes, creating scenographies, lying in a hammock and talking to plants and trees. In art and research I am currently focused on exploring how plants and humans build allyships to create worlds beyond the logic of separation.
